Former Chairman of Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Frank Ilaboya, has declared his intention to represent Owan Constituency in the House of Assembly, with a promise to provide sustainable empowerment for youths.

He said he would work with Governor Monday Okpebholo to enable people get dividends of democracy.

Ilaboya said the usual hand-outs to youths were not sustainable.

Speaking yesterday at a rally in Sabongida-Ora, headquarters of Owan West, he said he would join hands with other lawmakers to make laws that would favour youths in terms of empowerment.

On insinuations that Governor Okpebholo has endorsed some aspirants, Ilaboya insisted that the governor would not endorse anybody that fought against his election in 2024.

He said: “The usual hand-outs to youths are not sustainable. Empowering them with sustainable skills is a better route to go.

“Whether I can defeat a sitting Speaker? Let the people of Owan West decide. It is not a personal battle between me and Blessing Agbebaku. The field will decide!.

“Again, the party constitution says there’s no endorsement of anyone. It’s explicitly stated in APC constitution that candidates will emerge either by consensus or direct primary.

“To me, the massive crowd is a clear manifestation that our people want change. The field will decide because my people called me to contest and they showed it with their massive support during the declaration.”

The declaration rally was attended by party leaders, including ward executives, 11 ward leaders and local government leaders.
