Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has commended the  resilience and tactical discipline of Rangers International following a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Abia Warriors in a Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 25 fixture.

The encounter was played on Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, where the Flying Antelopes had to withstand sustained pressure to secure a valuable away point.

Ilechukwu admitted the game was a stern test but expressed satisfaction with his team’s overall performance, especially their ability to remain organised and composed in a challenging environment.

“I’m very happy with the way my boys performed,” Ilechukwu said after the match. “It is never easy to get points away from home in the NPFL. This is a very difficult league, and every away game feels like a battle.”

He acknowledged the quality of the opposition, noting that Abia Warriors are among the most competitive sides in the country this season.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game because Abia Warriors are one of the best teams in Nigeria. They are well-coached and very strong at home,” he added. “But we prepared well, stayed focused, and at the end of the day, we earned a vital point. That is very important for us.”

Looking ahead, the Rangers coach stressed that his team remains firmly focused on their season objectives, including a push for a continental ticket.

“We have to return home now and continue our preparations. There is still a lot to fight for,” Ilechukwu said. “With 13 games left, this is a crucial period of the season. Every point matters, and these games will determine where we eventually finish.”

Rangers will next turn their attention to a Matchday 26 clash against Wikki Tourists, where they will host the Bauchi-based side at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on Sunday, February 15.
