Fresh from his inauguration for a second term in office,Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has pledged to work for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu next year.

The governor declared that he has no apology to tender to anyone for his decision.

He spoke Thursday night during a television interview in Awka.

Soludo, who described the President as a  friend and a great ally, advised  other presidential aspirants to rethink  their move.

He said his own party - All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) -  would not field a candidate for the 2027 presidential election, which according to him, aligns with the party’s stance in 2023, when it  did not present a presidential candidate and instead supported the APC candidate .

“Tinubu is my friend and I want him to win his second term. I’m unapologetic about that,”  he said.

He said that while it would be a great honour for a South easterner to rule Nigeria, " Tinubu has to serve out his second term in office."

But he said his position should not be  " interpreted as anti-party activity, but rather, as a strategic collaboration in the interest of governance and development."

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, said the working relationship between his administration and the federal government has been massive.

He said:"APGA’s main focus remains strengthening its influence at the state and regional levels while backing a presidential candidate it believes can deliver at the national level."
