Nigerian forward  Victor Osimhen scored on his first derby appearance since returning from a fractured right forearm as Galatasaray demolished Fenerbahçe 3-0 in the Intercontinental Derby , opening a seven-point gap at the top of the Super Lig.

Osimhen had been sidelined for approximately 35 days after breaking his right forearm during Galatasaray's Champions League clash against Liverpool on 18 March, with initial medical assessments ruling him out for five to six weeks.

He returned ahead of schedule on 22 April, coming off the bench for between 12 and 17 minutes against Gençlerbirliği before making his full mark on the biggest fixture in Turkish football.

Yesterday against Fenerbahçe, he broke the deadlock on 40 minutes with a composed finish from inside the box — his 13th  Super Lig goal of the season — before his teammates completed the rout to inflict a humbling defeat on their fiercest rivals.

With three rounds of the regular season remaining, Galatasaray sit on 74 points from 31 matches and are firmly on course to retain the Super Lig title for a fourth consecutive season.
