Fulham’s midfield maestro Alex Iwobi has secured a well-deserved spot in the WhoScored Premier League Team of the Week following a masterclass performance at the Stadium of Light.

The 29-year-old was the architect behind Fulham’s commanding 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Sunday, proving once again why he is a vital cog in Marco Silva’s system.

Iwobi’s fingerprints were all over the scoreline, finishing the match with both a goal and an assist: Iwobi turned provider in the 54th  minute, delivering a pinpoint corner-kick that was met by a thumping header from Raúl Jiménez. As Sunderland pushed for a late equalizer, Iwobi spearheaded a lethal counter-attack, clinically finishing five minutes from time to put the game to bed. This strike marks Iwobi’s third goal of the campaign, adding to his growing tally of goal involvements this season.

Iwobi, who recently became the most-capped Nigerian player in Premier League history, wasn't the only Fulham star recognized for the Matchday 27 win. His teammate Raúl Jiménez, who opened the scoring from Iwobi's delivery, also earned a place in the weekly selection.

The victory is a significant boost for Fulham, who now sit 9th  in the Premier League table as they push for a top-half finish with 11 games remaining in the season.
