Life is full of “wines running out” moments—relationships strained, finances tight, health challenged, dreams deferred, and plans disrupted. Like the wedding hosts, we often feel trapped by circumstance, helpless to change our narrative. Yet John 2 reminds us that Jesus has the power to rewrite any story. The same Jesus who turned water into wine can turn our despair into joy, our scarcity into abundance, and our loss into victory.

The first lesson from Cana is that transformation begins with faith and obedience. When Mary approached Jesus, He initially replied, “Mine hour is not yet come” (John 2:4). But her instruction to the servants, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it” (John 2:5), underscores the principle: when we trust and obey God’s direction, we position ourselves for divine intervention. Faith is not passive; it is active surrender that allows Jesus to work.

Second, Jesus multiplies what seems insufficient. The six waterpots, intended for ceremonial washing, were filled to the brim and transformed into wine of superior quality. Luke 1:37 reminds us, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Our resources, talents, and opportunities, though seemingly inadequate, can be supernaturally multiplied when surrendered to Christ. What looks like limitation is often the stage for God’s miraculous abundance.

Third, Jesus’ interventions are both timely and transformative. His miracle did more than solve a logistical problem; it revealed His glory, inspired faith in His disciples, and created lasting impact (John 2:11). In the same way, Jesus’ work in our lives is not only practical but spiritual, shaping character, strengthening faith, and aligning us with His kingdom purposes.

Moreover, the story emphasises that Jesus changes ordinary situations into testimonies of hope. Even a commonplace event—a wedding—became a revelation of divine glory. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “To everything there is a season.” Our mundane challenges can become extraordinary opportunities for God to display His power if we allow Him.

This Lenten season shall bring your “running out” moments to Jesus. Whether it is scarcity, disappointment, or brokenness, trust Him to rewrite your story. Follow His instructions, surrender fully, and watch ordinary circumstances turn into extraordinary testimonies. Let Jesus be the story changer in your life, family, community, and nation. Please believe me, your story is going to change for His glory in the name of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord, transform our ordinary moments into testimonies of Your glory, multiply what is scarce in our lives, and make every challenge a platform for Your miraculous power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
