The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to consolidate support for the second-term ambitions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi, following their adoption as consensus candidates by the party’s Elders’ Committee for the 2027 general elections.

Announcing the decision in Dutse, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Garba, said the endorsement was based on what he described as “clear and measurable strides” recorded by the Tinubu administration at the national level and the Namadi-led government in Jigawa State.

He disclosed that the elders unanimously resolved to purchase the nomination forms for both leaders, reflecting strong confidence in their leadership and reform-driven governance.

“The committee, after careful assessment of the performance of President Tinubu and Governor Namadi, resolved to adopt them as sole candidates for the 2027 presidential and governorship elections,” Garba said.

He noted that the Tinubu administration has undertaken far-reaching economic and structural reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, expanding infrastructure, and repositioning key sectors for sustainable growth, adding that the policies are beginning to deliver long-term benefits.

Garba also highlighted Governor Namadi’s record in Jigawa, citing increased investment in agriculture, rural infrastructure, healthcare, and social welfare programmes designed to improve living standards.

“Governor Namadi has demonstrated purposeful leadership by prioritising people-oriented policies, strengthening food security initiatives, and expanding access to essential services across communities,” he said.

He further revealed that the Elders’ Committee reached the decision during a strategic meeting held at the Government House in Dutse over the weekend.

According to him, the committee presented three key resolutions: the endorsement of Tinubu and Namadi as sole candidates, the collective purchase of their nomination forms, and the adoption of a consensus arrangement across party structures in the state.

Representatives of the three senatorial zones—Alhaji Farouk Adamu Aliyu (Jigawa South-West), Senator Ibrahim Muhammad Kiri-Kasamma (Jigawa North-East), and Alhaji Isah Muhammad Gerawa (Jigawa North-West)—also endorsed the resolutions, pledging support for the re-election bids.

Garba said the unity among party stakeholders reflects growing confidence in the administration’s direction at both the state and federal levels, expressing optimism that sustained alignment would accelerate development outcomes.

He added that the party remains committed to consolidating existing gains and advancing inclusive growth as the 2027 elections draw closer.
