The family of the Lagos Chief Julius Adeoye Aderonmu Johnson-Agiri, has announced the passing of their father, who died on January 5, this year.

Born in Epe, Lagos State, on July 9,1937, he lived a life of hard work,integrity.and humility. His life is a testament to the power of hard work, integrity, and humility.  He grew up with strong values instilled by his parents, Chief Jacob Adewale Johnson-Agiri, the first Lagos State Commissioner forAgriculture and Madam Christiana Towobola Johnson-Agiri.

Chief Johnson-Agiri’s early days at Ebenezer African Church Primary School and Epe Grammar School further shaped him into a responsible individual with a passion for knowledge, which he pursued beyond the shores of Nigeria.

In 1963, he joined the Federal Civil Service, and his transfer to the Lagos State Civil Service in 1974 marked the beginning of his rise through the ranks. With over three decades of service, he earned a reputation for being diligent, honest, and people-centered. He worked in various ministries, including Finance, Education, and Health, and served as CEO and Administrative Secretary for several state institutions.

Beyond his professional life, Johnson-Agiri was a devoted member of the Anglican Church, serving in various roles, including Otun Balogun of St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Epe, as well as  vice patron and patron to many societies at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Ebute Metta before his demise.

He retired in 1997 and dedicated himself to church service, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and compassion. He’s survived by his wife, Mrs. Olayemi Johnson-Agiri, and their five children namely, Mrs. Adebukola Agbaminoja the Executive Secretary/CEO ,Lagos State Film and Video Board, and her siblings, Mrs Adebisi Ogunsaju of the Quality Assurance Agency, Mr. Adedotun Johnson- Agiri, Mr. Adegboyega Johnson-Agiri and Adedipupo Johnson-Agiri.

The funeral will be announced later, the family said in a statement.
