JUST IN: 13 abducted Benue bus victims regain freedom

Security operatives have rescued the remaining thirteen passengers who were abducted along the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State on Wednesday, April 15th. 

The Nation reports that gunmen on Wednesday night attacked a Benue Links state-owned transport vehicle, intercepting it and abducting several passengers.

The assailants reportedly intercepted the vehicle, robbed the passengers, and abducted several of them into the bush.

In a latest development, the Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of the remaining abducted passengers early Sunday.

This is contained in a terse operational report made available to journalists.

The report said the troops, while conducting search-and-rescue operations, recovered the victims in the early hours of Sunday from a forest area in Okete Ward, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue.

According to the report, those rescued include Hycent Oko (56), Elaiguli Joshua (25), Orili Raphael (29), Sunday Augustine (18), Emmanuel Elaicha (21), Gbile Nguyor Daniel (18), Ukacha Tersoo (18), and Nyikwagh Aoridakator (22).

Others are Iornav Ngukuhan (18), Nyikwagh Benjamin (18), Buker Agatha (19), Paul Wende (29), and Akor Jessica (19).

A police statement also announced that the Commissioner would address the press on the rescue operation at the Command Headquarters later on Sunday.
