The chairman of Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, Hon. Bright Abeke, has regained his freedom.
His release came 10 days after he was abducted by gunmen at his hotel, Debrofred located along Owumi Road in the timber town.
Witnesses said the assailants arrived in a Range Rover and opened fire indiscriminately, creating panic in the area.
During the attack, a vigilante guard identified as Ufuoma and another person sustained gunshot injuries.
Details of his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain unclear as of press time.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the development.
The incident had sparked concern across Delta State, with residents and political stakeholders calling for intensified security measures to curb rising cases of kidnapping and violent crimes in the region.
