The Chairman of the Adamawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hamza Bello, has resigned from his position and the party, with other members of the State Executive Council, including the 21 local government PDP chairmen, following suit.

The defections were announced Friday evening at a press briefing at the PDP Secretariat in Yola, hours after Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri declared his own defection earlier that day.

Addressing journalists, Bello and other exco members said their decision was in the best interest of Adamawa State, aimed at aligning with the political direction of Governor Fintiri and promoting stability in the state’s political landscape.

Prior to the PDP state exco’s move, the governor’s commissioners, special advisers, and 14 of the 21 local government chairmen had already left the party.

The officials cited divisions and legal disputes at the national level within the PDP and expressed their intention to align with the Federal Government and support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
