...says his deputy is loyal, denies any rift

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has firmly dismissed speculations of an "impeachment plot" against his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, describing the rumours as false.

There have been growing concerns in the political circles of the state, alleging that cracks had emerged within the governor and his deputy.

The rumours, which began last year, revealed that move were underway in the State House of Assembly to unseat the deputy governor.

Although the main motive behind the impeachment plot was linked to a 'power tussle' within the political blocs in Dr Adelami's hometown of Owo Local Government and the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Isaacs Omowunmi, who is reportedly close to Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Mrs Omowunmi, who is in charge of the State Ministry of Finance, reportedly controls the state’s financial records and deals.

Speaking during the commissioning of the newly constructed Ayegunle-Iwaro Oka road in Akoko South-West LGA of the state on Friday, Aiyedatiwa denied any rift between him and Dr Adelami.

The governor said that the talk of the plan impeachment of his deputy existed only in the imagination of political detractors seeking to create tension within the administration.

Last week, a video emerged from a cleric, Prophet Olumuyiwa Akogun, saying he 'saw vision that Dr Adelami would soon face an impeachment plan.

Akogun, the General Overseer of God Central Ministry in Ekiti State, also raised serious concerns over a possible political crisis in the state between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Dr Adelami.

But Aiyedatiwa stressed that both leaders remain united and focused on governance and service delivery to the people of the state.

The governor, who claimed he saw the video, said the footage was a mere distraction of his government by political enemies.

He, however, described Adelami as a loyal deputy, stressing that there's no plan or whatsoever to remove him from his position or office.

"Mr Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, I acknowledged your presence here. Thank you for holding forth for me yesterday when I have to traveled. Worthy amiable Deputy Governor. Some people are spreading one fake video. Those people wants to hear words.

"They claimed they want to remove the deputy governor. For where? Where they did they want to remove him (deputy governor) from? Don't answer them please; they are only looking for relevance. That can't happen because I'm also a Prophet of God," the governor said.

But in the video trending on social media, the Prophet claimed that he saw what appeared to be a breaking news announcement suggesting that the deputy governor was impeached.

According to him, in the vision, he saw the governor and his deputy standing behind one another with a flag before a sudden storm arose and caused separation between them.

"I saw breaking news. I saw the picture of the deputy governor, and I saw that he was impeached. The Lord told me that a step will be taken, and that step will cause chaos between the governor and the deputy. It shall be a serious problem," he claimed.
