Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked all his political aides in a sweeping move aimed at enhancing efficiency within his administration.

The affected aides include Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) to the governor.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the directive takes immediate effect.

"The Governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the State thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours," the statement read.

Meanwhile, in a move to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, the governor is set to appoint about 1,000 new aides.

The statement further said that the appointments are expected to be drawn from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state.

The development comes amid 'political divisions' among the political appointees in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.

The division stemmed from support in the political blocs in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), mainly between Governor Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Recall that in 2024, Aiyedatiwa appointed over 300 Special Assistants (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), explaining that the appointments spanned the 18 Local Government Areas, 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 203 political wards in the state.

The governor added that the appointments will further aid governance and smooth administration in the state.
