Anthony Joshua is set to make his return to the ring on July 25 in a preparatory bout ahead of a highly anticipated clash with Tyson Fury.
Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh confirmed that the former unified heavyweight champion will face Albanian fighter Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Esports World Cup event, which will be broadcast live on DAZN.
The bout will mark Joshua’s first appearance since his knockout victory over Jake Paul in December. Following that fight, he was involved in a road accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close associates, though he escaped with minor injuries.
The 34-year-old has since resumed full training and signed a two-fight agreement under Riyadh Season, with a blockbuster showdown against Fury expected later this year, pending a successful outing in July.
Speaking on his return, Joshua said, “It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring, and today is the next step on that journey.”

“I’m delighted to have agreed a multi-fight deal starting with July 25th in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I’m looking forward to competing and picking up where I left off.
“As I said, the landlord will collect his rent. That is certain.”
Victory over Prenga would set the stage for one of boxing’s most anticipated heavyweight encounters in recent years.
