The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Danjuma Shekwolo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to our correspondent, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Nkiruka Odoh, announced the results on Sunday at the INEC office in Kuje.

Odoh said Shekwolo secured a total of 17, 269 votes to emerge victorious in the poll held on Saturday.

Odoh said, "I am the returning officer for the 2026 FCT Area Council, Kuje chairmanship election held on Feb. 21, 2026.

"That Danjuma Shekwolo, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected".

According to her, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 15, 824 votes to place second, while All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Abdulahi Danladi, garnered 4305 votes to finish third.
