Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of proceedings on his bail application.

El-Rufai arrived at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday under tight security, with a combined team of police and Department of State Services personnel deployed around the court premises.

The hearing follows Tuesday’s adjournment by the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, after developments involving both the defence and prosecution.

Counsel to the former governor had earlier filed a motion asking the judge to recuse himself over alleged bias, but later withdrew the application, contributing to delays in the proceedings.

The prosecution also filed a counter-affidavit opposing bail, leaving the defence with limited time to respond, which led to the adjournment.

El-Rufai is facing multiple charges, including alleged fraud, money laundering, and unlawful possession of public funds, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
