He defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The House has witnessed several defections in recent months.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, read his defection notice during Wednesday’s plenary, March 11.

He is the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Legislative, Library Research and Documentation.
Hon. Obika noted that he defected due to the unresolved crisis in this former party (LP) which has resulted into factions.
He further noted that he remains resolute to success of APC and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Mandate.
