JUST IN: Six more Reps members defect to ADC, APC
Six more members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Six more members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defecting members include Sani Adamu Wakil (Minjibir/Ungogo-Kano), Umar Mukthar Zakari (Tarauni-Kano), Yusuf Umar Datti (Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam-Kano), and Abdulhakeem Kamilo Ado (Wudil/Garko-Kano), all defecting from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The others are Emeka Chinedu Martin (Ahiazu/Ezinihitte/Mbaise) and Kabiru Ahmadu Maipalace (Gusau/Tsafe-Zamfara), who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The new defection officially increased the number of ADC lawmakers in the House of Representatives to about 24, while the APC has about 282 members.

The PDP now has about 30 members in the House; the Labor Party has 10; the APGA has five; the Accord now has four; while the APP and the SDP each have 2, leaving the NNPP with only 1 member.
With the vacancy left by the recent death of Mohammed Danjuma Hassan, the NNPP may no longer have an active member in the House, unlike the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
In their letters, which Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read at the plenary, the defectors attributed their decision to dump their parties to the lingering crisis, which has led to allegations that the parties are rudderless and unable to uphold democratic tenets.
