Highly-rated defender Honest Ahanor and Michael Kayode may now require clearance from FIFA to represent Nigeria after making their debuts for Italy’s U21 side.

Ahanor, the 18-year-old featured as a second-half substitute in Italy U21’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Sweden, a development that could complicate his international future with the Super Eagles.

Also in action was Brentford's Michael Kayode, who played the full match and remains another player of interest for Nigeria.

Ahanor, who has impressed with Atalanta this season, has made 16 appearances and continues to attract attention from top European clubs.

The Serie A side signed him for five million euros from Genoa last summer, and his rapid development has marked him out as one of the brightest young defenders in Europe.

Kayode is turning heads too with Brentford and his exploits is aiding the club's push for a continental spot.
