Kidnappers slash ransom from N1b to N500m

Abductors of eight members of Omugo community members, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have slashed the ransom they placed on the heads of their victims from N1 billion to N500 million, it was gathered.

Gunmen attacked ECWA on Sunday over 10 days ago and carted away the worshippers.

The community has appealed to the Federal, and Kwara State governments, as well as security agencies to intervene.

President, Omugo Development Union, Prince Thompson Ladi Oladimeji, in Ilorin, called for the deployment of resources, intensify rescue, and sustain patrols to protect the villages and roads.

Oladimeji called for support to the affected families, improved security presence around worship centres and schools, and a plan to prevent further attacks in the communities.

The president noted: “Our hearts are heavy, families are in anguish, the community is traumatised, and fear hangs over the people,  as the kidnappers are asking for N500 million

The community appealed to government at all levels to come to the aid of those in captive and the community at large.’’

Oladimeji said the community remained prayerful and hopeful, saying that what they need is action.
