Governor Francis Nwifuru had issued a 72-hour directive to the Amasiri community to produce severed heads and individuals reportedly taken during the crisis.
The governor also assured stakeholders of adequate security to enable meetings within the community aimed at addressing the situation and facilitating the recovery of the remains and the release of affected persons.

In a statement signed by the community’s spokesperson, Princess Joy Idam, Amasiri leaders said they had no involvement in the reported incidents and called for a neutral fact-finding process to establish the circumstances surrounding the crisis.
The community maintained that residents have also been affected by the unrest, citing deaths, displacement, and missing persons.
It expressed concern over the broader humanitarian impact, noting that schoolchildren have faced disruptions, including difficulties participating in key examinations such as the Common Entrance Examination and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and the rule of law, the community urged authorities to prioritise the protection of civilians and pursue a resolution anchored on justice and accountability.
