Kun Khalifat FC produced a dramatic late victory over Nasarawa United, dedicating the win to their late former captain and Team Manager, Chijioke Ekpemandu.

The Matchday 33 encounter in Lafia was decided by Stanley Otu, who scored deep into stoppage time (90+5’) to secure a 1-0 win.

The result was a major upset, with 20th-placed Kun Khalifat overcoming fourth-placed Nasarawa United.

The victory came just 24 hours after Ekpemandu’s tragic death in a road accident, making it a deeply emotional occasion for the team.

In a statement, the club said: “It is with regret, sadness, and a heavy heart that Kun Khalifat FC announces the passing of our former captain, a brother, a leader, and a legend, Chijioke Ekpemandu.

 “His leadership, dedication, and passion for the club will never be forgotten.”

The win not only boosts their survival hopes but also stands as a powerful tribute to unity and resilience.
