Former Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Matthew Okedara and Chairperson, Moro Local Government, Hajia Mariam Abdulwasiu, at the weekend endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term.
The duo made this known in Bode-Saadu, headquarters of the local government, at a solidarity rally to support the second term ambition of the President.
They also used the forum to seek support for the governorship ambition of the current Speaker, Salihu Danladi.
Okedara said the bold economic policies of the President were unprecedented.
Said he: “We are here today to endorse President Tinubu for second term. This is the first President to make allocations to states. These allocations have enabled the states to pay salaries and other emoluments promptly. They also have enough resources to embark on developmental projects. Most of the states in Nigeria are huge construction sites due to Tinubu’s economic dexterity.

“Again we are using this avenue to endorse Danladi’s governorship’s bid. He has been Speaker for almost eight years, working with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. We are endorsing him to continue from where the governor will stop in the spirit of continuity.

“We are equally pleading with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to cede the House of Representatives seat to Moro Local Government for the first time.”
Hajia Abdulwasiu told reporters that “APC members in Moro Local Government have gathered here to appreciate our leader, Governor AbdulRazaq, for his leadership and developmental strides across the state.
“We are also gathered to affirm our resolve for the re-election of President Tinubu and endorse Danladi, the current speaker of the assembly, as the next governor of the state.
“It is undeniable that APC in Kwara State under Governor AbdulRazaq has recorded successes across sectors in the state, from infrastructural development to revamping of our health sector, education, agriculture and human capital development.
“Moro Local Government APC members, having considered several factors and who should sustain Governor AbdulRazaq’s good legacies, and coupled with the power shift agitation of the people of Kwara North who haven’t held the governorship seat since 1999, hereby endorse the current Speaker, Danladi, as our preferred governorship aspirant for the 2027 general election.”
Also, a coalition of APC support groups in Baruten Local Government has endorsed Danladi for governorship election.

The coalition made the endorsement in Okuta, Baruten Council.
Participants marched through parts of the town displaying campaign materials in support of the speaker.
Spokesperson for the coalition, Mallam Abdullahi Idris, said the speaker “has contributed to the development of different parts of the district, especially in areas such as water supply and youth empowerment”.
He said “several communities have benefited from boreholes and employment opportunities”, adding that the lawmaker has also supported many individuals in times of need.
However, he lamented that the area still faces challenges, particularly poor road conditions and general underdevelopment.

To this end, he called on the “residents and political stakeholders to support the emergence of Danladi as governor ‘’to address these complaints and others,’’ noting that Kwara North has not produced a governor since 1999”.
Also speaking, Abubakar Othman, a lawyer, described the speaker as a “capable, accessible and compassionate leader” and appealed to other parts of the state to support the call for a power shift to Kwara North.
He said consultations had been held with traditional rulers across the zone on the matter.
The Emir of Okuta, Abubakar Sero Idris, said “Kwara North has been neglected over the years despite supporting different governments”.
He appealed to “political leaders and stakeholders across the three senatorial districts to consider the zone for the governorship position”.
