The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across parts of the state ahead of the commissioning of key infrastructure projects scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, and Thursday, April 9, 2026.

In a travel advisory, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said, “The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the motoring public of partial road closures for the commissioning events of critical infrastructure projects on Wednesday, 8th April, 2026, and Thursday, 9th April, 2026.”

He explained that the temporary closures are necessary, noting, “These events require temporary road closures in specific areas to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of proceedings.”

Osiyemi urged motorists to plan ahead, adding, “Motorists are advised to plan their movement and avoid the affected corridors during the designated times to minimise traffic disruptions and travel delays.”

According to him, the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will take place on Wednesday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., affecting traffic in Opebi-Allen, Ikeja and Ojota.

“All motorists transiting this corridor during the specified hours should seek alternative routes to avoid congestion and ensure timely arrival at their destinations,” he said.

On Thursday, the commissioner said the commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex will hold between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., impacting traffic in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle.

“Motorists operating in these localities are strongly advised to plan alternative routes and allow additional time for their journeys during this period,” he stated.

He further disclosed that another event will take place later in the day between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. around Eko Hotel and Victoria Island.

“Motorists in the Victoria Island corridor are advised to avoid the area during these hours or to exercise caution and expect potential delays,” Osiyemi added.

The commissioner noted that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other traffic personnel will be deployed to manage vehicular movement.

“The public is urged to cooperate fully with traffic management personnel and observe all instructions to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles along the affected corridors,” he said.

He added that the government appreciates “the cooperation, patience and understanding of all road users during these events.”
