The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, has urged residents of Idimu, Ikotun, Igando, and the environs to provide timely information to security agencies regarding cult-related and other criminal activities to enable swift action.
CP Tijani gave the charge on Thursday during a familiarisation visit to Area M Command, Idimu, where he met officers and community stakeholders to assess security challenges in the area.
He warned that silence by residents would enable criminal groups to thrive and worsen insecurity, stressing that effective policing requires public cooperation.

“The police cannot do everything alone. We need the support of the people to expose those involved in criminal activities,” he said.
The commissioner expressed concern over the growing activities of cult groups in parts of Lagos, noting that their operations were threatening lives, property and economic stability.
He particularly urged residents of Agege and Idimu to remain vigilant and share credible intelligence with the police, assuring them that such information would be treated confidentially.
CP Tijani also called on parents and community leaders to help check youth involvement in crime by reinforcing discipline and traditional community values.
He warned that unchecked criminal activity could escalate during sensitive periods, such as elections, if not addressed promptly.
The CP assured residents that the command would intensify raids on criminal hideouts and sustain patrols, while strengthening collaboration with communities to improve security across the state.
Community stakeholders at the meeting pledged continued support for the police through information sharing and closer engagement.
