The lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Stephen Ogundipe, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election for a second term.

Ogundipe, popularly known as Omojomolo, made the declaration before party leaders, community stakeholders, youth groups, market representatives, and supporters, describing his stewardship over the past two and a half years as impactful and people-driven.

Addressing constituents, he urged residents to objectively assess his performance across the seven political wards, stressing that his record in office is “visible, verifiable, and measurable.”

He said his interventions have covered key sectors, including education, healthcare, youth empowerment, employment, infrastructure, and legislative advocacy.

In the education sector, Ogundipe disclosed that over 3,000 pupils benefitted from free coaching initiatives, while 1,200 youths received JAMB forms, resulting in high success rates and more than 100 admissions into tertiary institutions.

On economic empowerment, he said more than 200 constituents were trained in vocational skills, while others secured employment through his facilitation.

He added that healthcare outreach programmes organised by his office provided medical services, screenings, and consultations to hundreds of residents at the grassroots level.

On infrastructure, the lawmaker said his interventions have improved road networks, enhanced street lighting, strengthened security, and expanded economic opportunities for traders and residents.

“We have remained focused on purposeful leadership, setting aside distractions and sentiments to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people,” he said.

Ogundipe also highlighted his legislative contributions, noting that he has sponsored and supported people-oriented bills and motions addressing flooding, environmental sanitation, public safety, and community welfare.

Beyond lawmaking, he said his office has consistently delivered social support, including food distribution, financial assistance, and empowerment initiatives for women, youths, and vulnerable groups.

Calling for renewed trust, he described his first term as “only the beginning,” assuring constituents of improved performance if re-elected.

He urged residents to align with the development agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the THEMES Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which he said are already yielding results.

The declaration attracted endorsements from party leaders and influential figures within Oshodi-Isolo.

Former Vice Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, Daisi Oso, described Ogundipe as a committed and experienced legislator, urging constituents to support his return to the Assembly.

Oso noted that a second term would elevate him to the status of a ranking lawmaker, enhancing his capacity to attract more development projects to the constituency.

A member of the Governor’s Advisory Council and leader of The Mandate Movement in Oshodi/Isolo, Muraina Taiwo, represented by Elder Gbenga Arulogun, called for unity within the All Progressives Congress, stressing that cohesion remains critical to electoral success.

He also endorsed President Tinubu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and Ogundipe for 2027.

Taiwo commended the National President of the NURTW, Musiliu Akinsanya, for fostering unity among party members and transport workers in the constituency.

Former lawmaker Hakeem Sokunle urged constituents to support Ogundipe’s re-election, while Vice Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo, Modupe Aregbe, commended his representation.

In his remarks, Akinsanya expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness for the primaries, noting that structures are in place regardless of the mode of election.

He, however, clarified that road construction is primarily the responsibility of local government authorities, not legislators.

Akinsanya reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Tinubu, while backing Hamzat for Lagos governorship and Ogundipe for a second term.

Party faithful, youth leaders, women groups, and community stakeholders at the event also voiced support, describing Ogundipe as accessible, responsive, and committed to grassroots development.

The event ended with a renewed call for unity within the APC in Oshodi-Isolo, as stakeholders pledged to work together to secure victory for the party and sustain development efforts in the constituency.
