Lagos State Government yesterday ordered investigation into an incident involving an ambulance near the finishing line of the 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
The vehicle, deployed for the marathon’s official medical emergency response, was conveying runners, who earlier required medical attention, when it came in contact with a female non-athlete within the event arena.
Officials immediately alerted the ambulance crew to stop as emergency responders swiftly attended to the woman, administered first aid and moved her to a public health facility for further evaluation.

She reportedly sustained bruises and complained of chest pain, but was stabilised at the scene, with her vital signs confirmed stable.
In a statement, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, said the woman was responding positively to treatment and remained under close medical supervision.
He said Ministry of Health and Lagos State Sports Commission were monitoring the situation, noting that senior government officials had visited the hospital.
He said investigation was on to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
