No fewer than 50 suspected miscreants were arrested in Abule Ado during a clearance operation by the Lagos State Taskforce as part of efforts to enforce the government’s zero tolerance policy on the misuse of public transport infrastructure.

The raid targeted the Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge and its surrounding areas, where the suspects were said to have taken up residence, converting the facility into makeshift shelters.

Officials of the Lagos Ministry of Environment and Water Resources said the operation was carried out to restore order and ensure that the pedestrian bridge serves its primary purpose of safe passage for residents.

The Taskforce noted that the illegal occupation of the bridge posed security risks and could encourage criminal activities if left unchecked.

According to the agency, the exercise formed part of ongoing enforcement actions to rid public spaces of miscreants and safeguard critical transport infrastructure across the state.

It said those arrested would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
