The Lagos State Government has announced plans to commission three additional annex offices of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) in March 2026 to strengthen consumer protection and improve access to services across the state.

The General Manager of the agency, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, disclosed this during LASCOPA’s recent management retreat held in Ikeja.

Solebo said the establishment of the new annex offices underscores the state government’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity at the grassroots and ensuring prompt resolution of consumer complaints.

According to him, the expansion will enhance response time, improve accessibility and further reinforce the agency’s statutory mandate to safeguard consumer rights across Lagos.

“The opening of these offices will bring our services closer to the people and position the agency as a more responsive and community-focused institution,” he said.

The general manager reiterated LASCOPA’s commitment to improved service delivery, proactive consumer advocacy and the promotion of fair trade practices, noting that the agency remains focused on protecting residents from unfair and deceptive business practices.

He urged Lagos residents to promptly report cases of unfair or unsatisfactory services, as well as the sale of fake, expired or substandard products.

Solebo also advised consumers to always demand receipts or ensure properly signed agreements for every transaction as proof of purchase or service rendered.

“Your receipt is your power,” he said.

The three annex offices, located in Epe Local Government Area, Ojo Local Government Area and Isolo Local Council Development Area, are scheduled for commissioning as part of activities marking the 2026 World Consumer Rights Day.

The commissioning ceremonies will also feature public enlightenment and sensitisation programmes targeted at raising awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities.

Solebo expressed appreciation to the executive chairmen of the benefiting councils for providing office accommodation and said the agency is strategically positioned to establish offices at the grassroots level in line with the provisions of the law.

He further appealed to other local council chairmen to support the agency by providing office spaces, stressing that such collaboration would strengthen efforts to eliminate fake, substandard and expired products, as well as unfair trade practices, across Lagos State.
