Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in collaboration with other emergency response agencies, has activated a comprehensive safety and emergency response strategy for Easter.
This was made known in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
The comprehensive safety and emergency response strategy for Easter includes deployment of personnel and equipment across strategic locations in the state to ensure rapid intervention in case of any incident.
He said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had also called on Lagosians to prioritise safety and exercise caution as they celebrate Easter.
“Easter, a time of celebration, reflection and increased social activities, often comes with heightened risks, particularly on major roads, at crowded public gatherings and in homes where improper handling of electrical appliances and open flames can lead to fire outbreaks, “ said Oke-Osanyintolu.

He urged motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid reckless driving and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on trips.
Residents are also advised to remain safety-conscious in crowded places such as religious centres, recreational parks and event venues, because vigilance is critical in preventing accidents and responding to emergencies.
“It is important for residents to ensure proper fire safety practices, including careful use of cooking gas, electrical devices and candles, which are commonly used during Easter. Residents are encouraged to install basic safety equipment where possible and avoid actions that can trigger fire incidents.
“Emergency responders are on high alert and prepared to handle situations ranging from road accidents to fire outbreaks and other unforeseen emergencies.
“Residents are encouraged to report any emergency through the state’s toll-free lines—112 and 767—to enable swift response and minimise damage or loss of life,” LASEMA permanent secretary said.
He said Governor Sanwo-Olu, while extending warm Easter greetings to residents, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of Lagosians.
He urged everyone to celebrate responsibly and remain mindful of their environment, to ensure a peaceful, safe and incident-free holiday.
