The Lagos state government has commenced a four-day integrated drivers’ care initiative for professional drivers, targeting no fewer than 10,000 beneficiaries across the state.
The programme features drug screening, substance abuse awareness, eye examinations, and the provision of corrective glasses for drivers.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, who flagged off the initiative, said it aligns with the state’s THEMES+ agenda, with emphasis on traffic safety, drivers’ training, health, and social inclusion.

Adekoya noted that the programme, which commenced at the Lilly Pond Truck Terminal, would be extended to various terminals and motor parks across the state.

He explained that the initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to people-centred governance, aimed at enhancing road safety, improving the well-being of transport operators, promoting human dignity, and reducing road accidents.
Meanwhile, a global ride-hailing platform operating in nine African countries, inDrive, has hosted drivers on its platform at an appreciation event in Lagos.
The event, organised to recognise the dedication, professionalism, and contributions of drivers on the platform across Nigeria, brought together 50 platinum drivers in an interactive and relaxed atmosphere, reflecting the company’s people-focused culture.

Country Representative of inDrive Nigeria, Oladimeji Timothy, said the event formed part of the company’s efforts to strengthen a trusted and respectful driver community across the country.
He added that the initiative is anchored on fairness, partnership, and shared success.
Oladimeji disclosed that the appreciation event also provided an opportunity to introduce the inDrive Drivers Academy, which is designed to improve drivers’ experience and build their capacity.
