The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has secured the accreditation of 14 undergraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, the University performed excellently, obtaining full accreditation in 13 of the 14 programmes presented and interim accreditation in only one for the 2025 accreditation of undergraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission.

‘'The results are as follows- College of Basic Sciences: Industrial Mathematics - full accreditation; College of Applied Social Sciences;  Insurance - full accreditation; Tourism and Hospitality Management - full accreditation; College of Environmental Design and Technology­-Estate Management and Valuation - full accreditation, Quantity Surveying - full accreditation, Building Technology - full accreditation, Urban and Regional Planning - full accreditation and College of Engineering and Technology- Food Science and Bio-Technology - full accreditation, Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering - full accreditation, Civil and construction engineering - full accreditation, Computer Engineering - full accreditation, Mechanical Engineering - full accreditation,    Mechatronics Engineering - full accreditation, Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Interim accreditation,''

The university said it also secured full accreditation for Architecture from the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria and has achieved success in all its 39 programs so far presented for accreditation since its emergence, and has not failed any.

Meanwhile, LASUSTECH has partnered with Huawei Technologies to build a smart university of the future in a bid to deploy advanced digital and smart university solutions, marking a significant step towards transforming the institution into a technology-driven centre of excellence.

A statement issued by the university stated that the partnership meeting attended by senior management from both organisations and the partnering consultants was held on Wednesday, April 22 2026, at Huawei Technologies' office in Victoria Island, Lagos, to explore collaborative opportunities in digital infrastructure and innovative educational technologies.

The LASUSTECH delegation was led by Prof Olumuyiwa Odusanya and included Prof Abiodun Denloye (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics), Mr. David Ògúngbè (Registrar), Dr . Alpha Ebole (Director, ICT), Mr. Lanre Kuye (Director, Information and Public Relations), Dr. Steven Anu' Adesemoye (Team Lead, Digital & Creative Enterprise), and other senior members of the Chancellery.

Huawei Technologies was represented by Mr. Tim Hanxu (Network Solutions Manager), Mrs Nora Zhaojingjing (Channel Manager), Mr Samuel Onwuka, and Usman Aminu, while REMBAM

Telecommunication Company was represented by Mr. Awolesi Raphael, (Director, Project and Business Development), and Dr Victor Odugunwa (Technology Consultant to REMBAM).

The statement reads: ''Discussions focused on key solutions designed to enhance the university's operational efficiency, academic delivery, funding and alternative power supply. The key solutions included the establishment of an emergency command centre, a higher education network solution (iMaster NCE), perimeter protection solution, campus security solution, and an interactive classroom solution, among others.

''The partnership underscores LASUSTECH's deliberate strategy to build a smart university of science and technology by engaging leading technology firms to secure a competitive edge in Nigeria's higher education landscape.
