Lawmaker representing Apapa Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Dr. Adesola Adedayo, has said President Bola Tinubu is the architect of a new Nigeria whose deserves the support of all.

The federal lawmaker, who spoke on at Apapa at an intervention programme for students, also restated his prediction that the President would win in South West in 2027.

At the event, Adedayo distributed standard school furniture to public schools in his constituency, which he said was in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the intervention was to improve learning and enhance academic performance.

He described education as a critical tool for national development and personal advancement, noting his life trajectory had been shaped by access to quality education.

“I welcome you to the presentation and distribution of standard furniture, to ensure a more conducive learning environment for our school children,” he said.

He said education had been a top priority, given the demands of a competitive global environment and the influence of digital technology.

“The future we envisage will not evolve unless deliberate and decisive steps are taken now to plant the right seeds for the tomorrow we desire,” he added.

The lawmaker listed several interventions under his education scorecard, including facilitation of admissions into Queens College and Federal Government Girls College, provision of laptops to tertiary students, construction of classrooms, and sponsorship of examination candidates.

He also highlighted the purchase of 250 JAMB forms alongside free tutorial classes for candidates, as well as financial support for students across institutions nationwide.

According to him, the distribution of furniture marks the second phase of such intervention in the constituency.

“What we are doing today is the second time for this particular intervention, and we are not done yet with these innovative efforts in education,” he said.

In an interactive session, the lawmaker assured constituents of more initiatives, including provision of modern teaching aids such as white marker boards and infrastructural upgrades in schools.

“This initiative is part of what we have presented to our children to facilitate and improve their study environment. They should expect more from me,” he said.

He disclosed plans for teacher training programmes to address learning gaps, particularly in core subjects such as English, Mathematics and the sciences.

“We are organising training for teachers to bridge gaps, especially in English, Mathematics and science subjects.

“We will also support them with scholarships and further incentives,” he said.

Adedayo added that high-performing students would be rewarded with laptops and support for admission into tertiary institutions.

He, however, urged parents to complement government efforts by providing basic learning materials and ensuring proper nutrition for their children.

“Government cannot supply all the needs of our children. Parents also have a role to play by providing writing materials and ensuring good nutrition,” he said.

Adedayo reiterated his commitment to sustained infrastructure development and advocacy for increased federal interventions in Apapa Federal Constituency.

Some education stakeholders in the constituency commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

The Head Teacher of Ijora Oloye Nursery and Primary School, Mrs Aderonke Odusoya, said the intervention would significantly ease challenges faced by students, particularly during examinations.

“This is a very good project because it will alleviate the suffering of students. During examinations, it has been very inconvenient, but this will make a big difference,” she said.

Mr Oludare Obitayo,  the Principal of Apapa Senior High School who also serves as Anchor Chairman for Apapa Zone, noted that although the furniture might not meet all needs, it would greatly improve learning conditions.

“Though it is not enough, it will go a long way in improving the situation. He has done wonderfully well and complemented the efforts of the Lagos State Government,” he added.

He expressed appreciation on behalf of school administrators in the area.
