President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerian Christians to use the Lenten season as a period of prayer, reflection, humility, and repentance.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio said Ash Wednesday should remind Christians of their mortality and the need for spiritual renewal.

He said, “As we dust ourselves with ashes, let us remember our mortality and the need for humility and repentance. May this season be a time for introspection, forgiveness, and reconciliation, strengthening our bond with God and with one another.”

Akpabio assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would continue to enact laws that promote unity, peace, and understanding across the country.

The Senate President extended warm greetings to Christian faithful on behalf of his family, constituents, the Senate and the 10th National Assembly, praying for divine guidance throughout the Lenten season.

“May God bless and guide us all on this Ash Wednesday and throughout the Lenten season,” he added.
