The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has extended warm greetings to Christian and Muslim faithful across the country as they start the sacred observances of Lent and Ramadan, describing the rare coincidence of the two holy seasons as a symbol of unity and shared spiritual heritage.
In a statement signed by its Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, the Foundation said the alignment this year offers Nigerians a unique opportunity for deep national reflection and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.
According to the Foundation, the simultaneous take off of the two seasons underscores the common values shared by Christianity and Islam, including sacrifice, self-discipline, repentance, compassion, charity and spiritual renewal.

It urged Nigerians to embrace these principles in a spirit of unity and mutual respect, stressing that the period should inspire citizens to rise above differences and strengthen the bonds that hold the diverse nation together.
The Foundation appealed for greater compassion among citizens, encouraging acts of kindness, support for the vulnerable, forgiveness and reconciliation, as well as a dedication to building a just, peaceful and prosperous society.
Religious leaders were called upon to use their pulpits and platforms to promote unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, rather than messages capable of creating division or discord within communities, while political leaders were urged to shun divisive rhetoric and promote dialogue and inclusivity in the interest of national harmony and sustainable development.
