Liberia Consul-General hails NDLEA

The Consul-General, Republic of Liberia in Lagos, Dapo Akinosun (SAN), has praised the  National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking and protecting society from the dangers of drug abuse and transnational criminal activities.

He stated this during a visit to the Airport Strategic Commander of the NDLEA, Mr. M. T. Ahmad, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the Head, Media Department of the Consulate, Mr. Oduntan Ogundimu, the visit was part of the Consul-General’s engagements to strengthen cooperation with Nigerian authorities and key security and law enforcement institutions.

Mr. Akinosun praised Mr. Ahmad for his leadership, adding that the Command has intelligent men of track records.

Both sides discussed the importance of cooperation between the Liberian Consulate and the NDLEA, particularly information exchange, capacity building, prevention of drug trafficking, and proper consular engagement when necessary.

The consul-general reaffirmed Liberia’s respect for Nigerian laws and emphasised the importance of educating Liberians on them.

The NDLEA Airport commander expressed his readiness to maintain a good relationship with the Liberian Consulate in Lagos to strengthen regional security.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting lawfulness, cooperation, and safety of travellers passing on international routes.
