The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has initiated plans to procure security hardware from indigenous manufacturer Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited (EPAIL Nigeria) to strengthen local capacity and improve operational support for security agencies in the state.

Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, led a delegation including Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, on a working visit to EPAIL Nigeria’s production facility along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The team held discussions with the company’s Chairman/CEO, Kola Balogun, and Director of Engineering, AVM Olabisi (retd), focusing on collaboration and the supply of protective equipment for security operatives across the state.

Ogunsan said the planned procurement reflects the Fund’s commitment to promoting local content in the security sector while enhancing operational readiness.

According to him, sourcing equipment locally will shorten delivery timelines, allow customization to Nigeria’s security environment, and ensure sustainability of long-term investments.

He added that the initiative would also help conserve foreign exchange, create jobs, and strengthen Nigeria’s defence manufacturing base.

Founded in 2014, EPAIL Nigeria manufactures ballistic vests, helmets and other defence-grade equipment, and provides risk assessment and infrastructure protection solutions nationwide. The company also maintains a research and development framework focused on advancing indigenous security technologies.

The engagement underscores Lagos State’s growing emphasis on supporting homegrown security solutions as part of broader efforts to improve safety while stimulating industrial development.
