The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) yesterday commenced the second batch of its statewide multi-agency training programme for operatives to strengthen professionalism, intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration.
The two-day training, followed the inaugural session conducted last month and is part of a broader plan to train over 1,000 personnel drawn from security and law enforcement agencies operating in Lagos in the next 10 months.
Participants were drawn from the Lagos State Police Command; joint security patrol team, OPs Mesa; Nigerian Air Force (NAF); Force CID Annex Alagbon; Special Protection Unit attached to the Governor’s Office; Western Ports Authority Police Command; Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA); Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA); Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA); Nigeria Immigration Service (Lagos Command); Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC); Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS); Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA); Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the LSSTF Campaign Against Crime, Cultism and Other Vices (CACCOV) team.
Themed Enhancing Professional Capacity, Ethical Standards and Inter-Agency Collaboration for Effective Security Operations, the training was designed to promote coordinated responses to security threats and improve operational synergy among agencies.
In his remarks, LSSTF Executive Secretary, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, said the training was structured to strengthen cooperation, improve communication and deepen understanding of institutional mandates among participating agencies.

He noted that effective security management required collaboration, not isolated operations, adding that the initiative would enhance professionalism and service delivery across the state.
Ogunsan urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their skills and strengthen coordination in the field, warning that agencies that fail to maximise such training risk losing future allocations.
He also introduced the LSSTF-CACCOV initiative, explaining that it would complement enforcement efforts through preventive engagement aimed at discouraging crime, cultism and other social vices.
Representing the Chairman of the LSSTF Advisory Board, retired DIG Agboola Oshodi Glover, a board member, emphasised the importance of discipline and attentiveness during the training.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, described the programme as timely, noting that effective security depended not only on equipment but also on the professionalism and mindset of personnel.
Commander of NAF's 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Muhammed Imam, stressed the importance of unity among security agencies, warning that weak coordination could create opportunities for criminal elements.
General Manager LNSA, Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, highlighted the agency’s grassroots intelligence network across communities, while LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said the training would sharpen officers’ capacity to respond to threats and emergencies in a rapidly changing security environment.
The training sessions, held at the Zone, were facilitated by Prof. Oka Obono and Dr. Diya Ololade.
