Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah and Christian faithful in the state and across the country as the 2026 Ramadan and Lenten seasons commence.

The governor urged adherents of both faiths to use the sacred period to deepen their devotion to God and renew their commitment to service to humanity.

Makinde noted that the coincidence of the two fasting seasons presents an opportunity to reinforce values of love, unity and religious harmony.

He said the overlap serves as a reminder of the shared moral principles that bind both religions and called on worshippers not to lose sight of that lesson throughout the period.

He commended Muslims and Christians in Oyo State for sustaining peaceful coexistence and for supporting his administration since 2019, which he said has contributed to the state’s steady progress.

The governor encouraged the faithful to offer prayers for the continued peace and development of Oyo State and Nigeria, as well as for those in positions of leadership.

He assured residents that his administration would remain committed to prioritising their welfare and advancing policies in their collective interest.
