Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have described the reported plot to dethrone the first-class monarch as unfounded and baseless.

The duo spoke in separate reactions through their media aides.

They faulted the former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, on the reported plot.

The Nation reports that Fayose on his X handle wrote that Governor Makinde is plotting to remove Ladoja as Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He disclosed that Ladoja would be issued query for not attending the elevation ceremony of High Chief Sharafadeen Ali to the status of Obas in Ibadan recently..

Contacted, Information Commissioner Prince Dotun Oyelade said the government had never contemplated, discussed or planned such action.

Also, the media aide to Oba Ladoja, Adeola Oloko, described the statement credited to Fayose as unfounded and baseless.

He noted that there was no rift between Governor Makinde and Oba Ladoja to warrant such moves.

Fayose has, however, assured Oba Ladoja that people, besides Ibadan indigenes, residents and the entire Oyo State are behind the revered stool and will not allow it to be dragged down by anyone, irrespective of status.

He urged Governor Makinde to thread softly, noting that his tenure is tied to the constitution, while that of the Olubadan stool is tied to destiny from God.

Fayose spoke yesterday when he paid what he described as a solidarity visit to the Olubadan at the Bodija, Ibadan residence of the first-class monarch.

Addressing the monarch, who was in company with some revered Ibadan indigenes, the former governor said he stood by his report that Governor Makinde had plans to query the Olubadan on his alleged role in the aborted coronation of some chiefs in absentia.

He said he was not surprised when initially, reports from both the palace and the government denied the rift, but happenings within the last 48 hours had shown otherwise.

Describing himself as ‘a son of the soil’ in Ibadanland, having been born in Ibadan, Fayose said Ibadan remained a home to him and many other prominent individuals, including political heavyweights, former governors and other dignitaries.

He said he was standing in solidarity with the monarch in view of his good name, track record and heavy profile, noting that the current Olubadan is not just a blessing to Ibadanland, or Oyo State, but also to the country.
