Man found dead after killing fiancée’s sister, injuring others in Abia

A young man identified as Chinedu Anamelechi from Umunga Amakama in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State has been reported dead after killing his fiancée’s sister, Ezinne Ariwodo.

A young man identified as Chinedu Anamelechi from Umunga Amakama in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State has been reported dead after killing his fiancée’s sister, Ezinne Ariwodo.

Sources indicated that the suspect also attacked his girlfriend and another yet-to-be-identified individual during the incident.

He was said to have fled the scene, prompting a search operation by members of the community and security agencies.

Hours later, his body was reportedly discovered in a bush within the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident, stating that the command received a report of the attack involving Anamelechi in the Umuanga Amakama community. She added that investigations are ongoing.

"Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command swiftly raced to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries.

"The injured victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

"The deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel and has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Exhibits recovered from the scene.

"Normalcy has since been restored in the area, and members of the community were advised not to take the law into their own hands. Investigation is ongoing as efforts are in place to apprehend the suspect."
