A blind and amputated man, Emmanuel Agwuncha of Ngandam village in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State is seeking justice for his late son, Emeka, who was killed by cultists.

He said his son died following an attack by his assailants with machetes, blocks and clubs.

He said the murdered son was his bread winner.

He said: “My son was invited by the suspected killers to the house of a man in Umuru village, and on arrival he was immediately attacked with machetes, blocks and clubs, resulting in his instant death.

“This incident happened on the eve of Easter and they dumped the body in the gate of our compound and left.

“We reported the matter to Nnobi Police Division and five people, including the man, in whose compound the murder was committed, were arrested.

“Okpala was released on health grounds as I was told but that does not mean he has been set free. The suspects and the case file have been transferred to State CID by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nnobi Police Division.

“We are happy about that because the killers’ relations called for settlement and the DPO gave some days for such but the meeting ended in fiasco and the DPO took the matter to Awka for discrete investigation.

“We need justice in this matter. I am blind and my legs were amputated on health grounds. That I’m still alive is because of this my son they killed just like that, without doing them anything.

“I need justice for his death. The perpetrators can’t go scot-free. I plead with Governor Soludo, Commissioner of Police and other spirited individuals to come to my rescue.”

Also pleading for justice, uncles to the deceased, Anene and Humphrey, based in Benin, Edo and Lagos states expressed sadness over the incident, urging Police to ensure the culprits were brought to book.

“From what I was told, the killers invited him to Dr. Okpala’s compound, killed him with machetes, blocks and clubs there, and brought his body to Agwuncha compound gate,” Anene lamented.

The Nation gathered that the body has been deposited at a morgue in a nearby community.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the incident had not been reported to him, but pledged to make contacts.
