The African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman's Media Office dismissed reports that Senator David Mark stepped down as the party’s national chairman, describing the claim as false.

In a statement on Sunday, the Media Office of the National Chairman said the report was a fabrication aimed at creating confusion within its ranks.

The media office maintained that Mark remains the substantive National Chairman and that no discussion or decision regarding his resignation has occurred.

The statement described the claim as “an insidious fabrication” allegedly spread by “puerile, weak, and inconsiderate propagandists.”

It added that the report exists only in the imagination of those intent on misleading the public and destabilising the party.

“The assertion that Senator David Mark has stepped down exists only in the warped imagination of those bent on spreading falsehood and creating confusion within our party,” the statement read.

Mark's media aides said the ADC leadership remains united and focused on its objectives, including strengthening democratic values and offering an alternative platform for governance.

They also cautioned against attempts to destabilise its structure, linking such moves to concerns over its growing political relevance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The ADC, its leadership, and the majority of Nigerians are unbending in their collective determination to resist any plot aimed at undermining Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or imposing a one-party system,” the statement said.

The media aides urged Nigerians to disregard the reports and expressed confidence in the leadership and internal stability.
