Mahmoud made the call on Sunday while speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the inaugural flight and official flag-off ceremony of the 2026 Hajj operations held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on May 3, 2026.

The Minister who described the occasion as both a logistical milestone and a deeply spiritual moment, noted that the commencement of the Hajj exercise marks the beginning of a sacred journey for thousands of Nigerians who have answered the divine call to perform one of the fundamental pillars of Islam.
