The Miss Nigeria Organisation has issued an official apology to Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde following her uncomfortable experience at the 46th Miss Nigeria Patrons & Board Dinner.

A video from the event went viral after a young presenter asked Jalade-Ekeinde an awkward question, prompting a visibly frustrated response.

In the clip, the presenter asked, “Alright, welcome to the 2026 Miss Nigeria dinner. I am currently living with…?” Omotola replied, “You are here with who? Should I tell you my name? You are not ready,” before explaining further and attempting to leave. She later granted an interview while seated.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the organisation clarified that the media representative involved was not invited to the private event and had no official affiliation with the dinner.

“First and foremost, we wish to publicly extend our sincerest apologies to Omotola for the discomfort she experienced. She is a deeply valued member of the Miss Nigeria community, a close friend of the organisation, and a woman who has spent decades paving the way for young creatives in this country. She deserves the utmost respect and care,” the statement said.

The organisation added that the Patrons & Board Dinner was strictly invite-only, noting that uninvited media presence can create “impromptu moments” that catch guests and interviewers off guard. It also emphasised that the viral clip did not capture the full context, pointing out that multiple individuals had invaded Omotola’s personal space, contributing to her discomfort.

“There were multiple individuals involved who repeatedly invaded Omotola’s personal space, making her feel deeply uncomfortable and unsafe. The clip that has been shared was edited and does not reflect the full extent of what occurred,” the statement added.

The statement condemned the actions of anyone approaching a guest uninvited, stressing that such behavior is "completely unacceptable" and will not be tolerated.

Omotola was also praised for her graciousness in engaging with the presenter, despite being taken advantage of.

“It’s completely unacceptable, and we will not stand for it. Omotola was gracious enough to engage in good faith, and that goodwill was taken advantage of,” the statement added.

The Miss Nigeria Organisation urged the media and public to respect event protocols and the privacy of guests.
