The Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court has convicted several traffic offenders following an enforcement exercise carried out at the Haruna area of Ikorodu.

The offenders were arraigned before the court, presided over by Magistrate K.A. Ariyo, for violations of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law and other traffic regulations.

At the proceedings, one of the defendants, Onasanya Daniel, pleaded not guilty to charges of driving against traffic and making an illegal U-turn. The case was adjourned till April 21, 2026, for trial.

Another defendant, Omowunmi Babatunde, was found guilty of similar offences and sentenced to a fine of ₦200,000 pending forfeiture, alongside an additional ₦20,000 fine or one month of community service.

Similarly, Olayemi Oluwabamigbe, who faced a two-count charge, pleaded not guilty to one count and guilty to the other. The case was adjourned till May 5, 2026, for trial.

The court also convicted Olufemi Opadeji and Alabi Akinoluwa on both counts of driving against traffic and making illegal U-turns. They were each fined ₦200,000 for the first count and ₦20,000 or one month of community service for the second count.

Onwah Ogheneweke and Ajimokunola Temitayo were equally found guilty on both counts and received similar sentences.

In another case, Lawal Abdulwasiu was found guilty of multiple offences, including driving against traffic, breach of peace, obstruction and resistance of enforcement officers, as well as incitement. His sentencing was adjourned till March 24, 2026.

The prosecution was led by Olufemi Adekunle, alongside Oluwabusola Omotunde, on behalf of the state.

The Lagos State Ministry of Justice said the mobile court remains a critical mechanism for the swift dispensation of justice in traffic-related offences.

It urged motorists to comply with traffic laws, warning that violators would continue to face prosecution.
