Three persons, including a motel owner, were arrested over alleged possession of firearms and involvement in illicit drug activities in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects, Mr Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi (39), Abdullahi Shaibu (26) and Obah Chima (18) were arrested by police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu.

He said substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos and Mkpuru-mmiri were recovered from the suspects.

He said: “The Police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, acting on credible information in the late hours of 9th February 2026, stormed a motel located in Uke where the criminals were arrested.‘‘

“During the search, one Jojef pump action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges was recovered at the scene.

“Also, Mr Ifeanyi confessed to the crime as investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri.

“The Command reiterates its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations against criminal elements in the state and urges members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid policing efforts.

“Further development will be communicated as the investigation progresses.”
