One of the key promises believers hold onto in this season is the assurance of divine restoration. God’s word in Joel 2:25 declares: “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” This promise gives hope to individuals, families, businesses, and nations that may be experiencing loss or hardship. Restoration from God brings a new beginning—one of renewed joy, progress, opportunities, and testimonies of His faithfulness.

Many people today are passing through challenging times. Economic difficulties, health concerns, and uncertainties about the future can cause discouragement. Yet the Scriptures remind us that hardship does not last forever. In Psalms 30:5, we are assured that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” This means no matter how long the struggle may seem, God’s restoration will surely come.

The story of Salome demonstrates how the concern and prayers of a mother can influence destiny. Her sons, James and John, later became part of the inner circle of Jesus Christ’s disciples with Simon Peter. Mark 3:17 says Jesus even gave James and John the name “Boanerges,” meaning “sons of thunder,” signifying their passion and influence in the ministry of Christ. John developed a deep and special relationship with Jesus and is described in John 13:23 as the disciple who leaned on Jesus during the Last Supper.

These biblical accounts highlight an important truth: mothers often hold a unique role in shaping the character, faith, and destiny of their children. This reality invites us to reflect on how we treat mother figures in our lives. Mothers—biological, adoptive, or spiritual—deserve appreciation and honour. Ephesians 6:2–3 instructs believers to “Honour your father and mother,” promising those who do so well-being and long life.

Honouring mothers should go beyond celebrating them on special occasions. It should be a daily expression of gratitude, respect, and care. Many pray for prosperity, promotion, and success in life, yet the Scriptures remind us that our relationships in the family also play a role in unlocking God’s blessings.

The Bible instructs husbands to value and honour their wives. In 1 Peter 3:7, husbands are encouraged to treat their wives with understanding and honour so their prayers will not be hindered. Similarly, Proverbs 18:22 declares:  “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord.” These emphasise that women—mothers—are often channels through which God releases favour and blessings into families.

Motherhood is a sacred privilege and responsibility. Mothers shape our values, attitudes, and give spiritual direction. Their sacrifices, prayers, and dedication build strong families and influence the moral strength of society. When mothers fulfil their roles with love, discipline, and godly wisdom, they raise children who contribute positively to their communities and nation.

As we reflect on the significance of mother, let every child honour and appreciate mothers, let husbands cherish and support their wives, and let mothers embrace their divine responsibility with renewed commitment, knowing that through them God shapes destinies and restores families and society.

Prayer: May God give our mothers wisdom, strength, and grace, and use them as instruments of restoration, peace, and blessings in our homes, communities, and nation through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
