MTN Nigeria has been awarded two major international certifications, ISO/IEC 20000 certification for IT Service Management Systems (ITSM) and ISO/IEC 38500:2024 for IT Governance Management Systems. These achievements underscore the company’s commitment to delivering reliable, governed, and continuously improving technology services to customers and stakeholders in Nigeria.

The first, ISO/IEC 20000, is the international benchmark for organisations that demonstrate excellence in the design, delivery, management, and enhancement of IT services. Attaining this certification reaffirms MTN Nigeria’s strong governance framework, disciplined operational processes, and focus on service quality. It validates the company’s ability to provide consistent, efficient, and customer‑centric IT services that align with global best practice.

In addition, MTN Nigeria also passed the ISO/IEC 38500:2024 IT Governance Management System audit. This certification makes MTN Nigeria the first telecommunications company in Nigeria and the first in the MTN Group, to attain this standard.

The ISO/IEC 38500:2024 certification covers governance of all IT-enabled services, systems and data management activities that support MTN Nigeria’s business objectives. It ensures that the company’s use of technology is aligned with corporate strategy, promotes ethical and responsible decision‑making, strengthens accountability, leadership effectiveness, performance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement in accordance with international IT governance.

Bukola Ajayi, Ag. chief Information officer, said: “These certifications reflect our dedication to delivering technology services that meet the highest global standards. They are a testament to the discipline, expertise, and resilience of our teams who innovate to ensure reliable, secure and responsibly governed IT services for our customers and partners. We appreciate the recognition and remain committed to driving digital solutions in Africa.”

Beyond the compliance, the awards amplify the company’s credibility as a technology‑driven business committed to resilience, efficiency, and exceptional service. They align directly with MTN Nigeria’s strategic ambition to build a future‑ready organisation anchored on robust systems, scalable platforms, ethical governance principles and a culture of continuous improvement. They reflect MTN’s investments in digital infrastructure and its determination to accelerate progress for Nigeria through superior technology capabilities, responsible innovation and outstanding customer experience.
