Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has convened an expanded State Security Council meeting in Jos, the state capital with heads of security agencies and chairmen of the 17 local government areas, as part of efforts to strengthen peace and security across the state.

The meeting, held at the Government House, reviewed recent security developments and focused on strategies to prevent further breaches and promote sustainable peace.

Following the meeting, the Commissioner of Police, Bassey S. Ewah, announced an adjustment to the curfew hours, now set from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with strict enforcement directives issued to security agencies.

He also reaffirmed existing restrictions, including the ban on commercial motorcycle operations and regulations governing tricycle movement, warning that violators would face prosecution.

According to him, the measures are designed to restore order and ensure compliance with the law, stressing that security agencies are fully committed to maintaining stability in the state.

He dismissed rumours of planned protests, stating that the situation remains calm and that there is no breakdown of law and order.

Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.

The state Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hamisu Mohammed Anani, said local governments are developing tailored security strategies to address challenges within their respective areas.

He noted that collaboration between local authorities and security agencies remains key to tackling insecurity effectively.
